Tank Switcher
Technifab’s Cryogenic Tank Switcher offers:
- Frost-free operation. No more puddles or water running down your walls ruining the drywall.
- Quicker cool-down time means faster delivery of liquid nitrogen to cryogenic freezers or other applications.
- Easy to operate user controls allow simple operation and changes for multiple tank situations.
- Adjustable for different pressure VGL/liquid nitrogen cylinders so it will work in your application.
Technifab's tank switcher is built based on our long history of making vacuum jacketed pipe and cryogenic controls. Utilizing a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for cryogen control and vacuum jacketed pipe to prevent dripping/sweating gives a cryogenic tank switcher that no one else offers!
Anywhere multiple supply dewars are required to provide uninterrupted LN2 availability.
The Technifab Tank Switcher utilizes a PLC operator interface and vacuum jacketed lines to reduce condensation/frosting. All interaction for the Tank Switcher is done via the touch screen. The PLC dictates which supply tank is being utilized and creates a link between the user and the equipment to adjust the system as needed.
The liquid nitrogen supply tanks in the system are attached to the manifold and the valves are fully opened. The operator chooses the tank to start with. When the tank switcher is turned to the “Run” position, it will immediately open and pressurize the system.
The unit includes a liquid level probe and a pressure transducer. When the transducer monitors a pressure lower than the pressure setpoint, it allows liquid downstream. The liquid level probe ensures that each tank is emptied before switching to the next tank.
When the transducer reads pressure lower than the setpoint and liquid has not reached the probe for a period of time, the unit will automatically switch to the next tank in line. The switcher time is completely adjustable for the length of pipe run (longer piping runs will require longer timer settings).
The unit will cycle through all tanks in the system until the tank prior to the start tank has reached empty condition. Upon the last tank being emptied the unit will enter alarm condition. The alarm condition also trips a relay that may be attached to an external 24 VDC device such as an Auto-Dialer.
